Test dates and submission deadlines will be posted on this web page and at the www.traviscountyjobs.org web site. Applicants are to arrive no later than 0645. Doors will be closed at that time and testing will begin as soon as all applicants are checked in. Applicants arriving after 0645 will be turned away.

If the applicant fails to arrive and test they will be removed from the process for one year.

Test location is the Travis County Sheriff's Office Training Academy, 3614 Bill Price Rd., Del Valle, TX 78617.

Applicants who pass the Reading Comprehension/Vocabulary (RCV) test will be given instructions for the Physical Readiness Test.

2016 LAW ENFORCEMENT

Date to be determined for the civil service exam, with the physical readiness test and the RCV immediately following. These exams will be conducted at the Travis County Sheriff's Office Training Academy located at 3614 Bill Price Rd., Del Valle, TX 78617.

In order to test, you must complete a NEOGOV online application and submit it electronically to TCSO Human Resources. You must have your PID number entered into the NEOGOV online application when submitting it electronically.  

Corrections

Test Scheduling

Correction Officer Applicants must electronically schedule for their test date after they receive the testing notice whether they will attend or they will be turned away at the testing.

Physical Readiness Test - Corrections Officer

This test is for officer candidates only. An applicant must complete a 2,000 meter row at 50% or above, according to their age, gender and weight. Find your minimum requirement HERE. A doctor's release or medical waiver will be required prior to taking this test.

Positon Specific

Position-specific tests may be administered for patrol. This test is designed to assess an individual’s response to a typical situation that would be encountered in this position.

Reading Comprehension and Vocabulary Test

For this test, the applicant will be required to read several paragraphs and answer multiple choice questions pertaining to the paragraphs.

Vocabulary/Grammar/Spelling Test

For this test, the applicant will be required to look at a word in context, and answer the multiple choice question with the best choice.

NOTE: Failure to meet the minimum requirements for any of the tests listed above will disqualify an applicant for a period up to Three (3) Months.

Law Enforcement

LE candidates must be licensed by TCOLE at the time of application submission.

Testing for Law Enforcement is held twice a year. Email Human Resources  for more information about the next available testing session.

Law Enforcement Deputy Exam

The Law Enforcement Deputy Exam is designed to evaluate the candidate’s ability to think and reason by testing the applicant’s basic skills in map reading, memory, math and grammar. For information concerning study materials, please contact the TCSO Civil Service Office at(512) 854-4769 .
