Deputy Sheriff

Salary

We offer a competitive salary starting at $70,040.00/year.

5+ years of experience w/ Intermediate license or higher: $74,305.44/year.

After hire, if eligible for Sr. LE Deputy: $77,237.89.

10+ years of experience w/ Advanced license or higher: $78,830.64/year.

After hire, if eligible for Sr. LE Deputy: $81,941.68.

Minimum requirements: U.S. Citizen; 21 years of age; high school diploma or GED; Licensed Peace Officer in the state of Texas at time of application; and successfully pass the required entry tests to include a physical readiness test and range qualification. Note: If you are not a Licensed Peace Officer in the state of Texas, please contact our Recruiting Team to learn how to become a License Peace Officer in Texas.  

At the end of your second year on patrol and upon successful completion of a promotional exam, you will be promoted to a Senior Deputy Sheriff with a pay increase. 

The career path in Law Enforcement, after becoming a Senior Deputy is Detective, Sergeant and Lieutenant.  

There are many specialized units in the Law Enforcement Bureau that will allow you to gain additional training and experience. As a Senior Deputy Sheriff, you are eligible to apply to be part of one of our specialized units.

  • K-9
  • DWI Enforcement
  • Highway Enforcement
  • Lake Patrol
  • SWAT
  • Vice

Courthouse Deputy

Salary

We offer a competitive salary starting at $64,796.23/year

If you are an experienced Peace Officer, please review salary information below:

5+ years of experience w/ Intermediate peace officer certification or higher: $ 68,742.32/year. 

10+ years of experience w/ Advanced peace officer certification or higher: $72,928.73/year.

Minimum requirements: U.S. Citizen; 21 years of age; high school diploma or GED; Licensed Peace Officer in the state of Texas at time of application; and successfully pass the required entry tests to include a physical readiness test and range qualification. Note: If you are not a Licensed Peace Officer in the state of Texas, please contact our Recruiting Team to learn how to become a License Peace Officer in Texas.  

There are several duty locations and a variety of assignments within Courthouse. The different areas will allow you to gain additional training and experience. As a Courthouse Deputy, you are eligible to apply for Auxiliary Duty assignments:

  • Combined Transportation, Emergency & Communication Center
  • Bailiff (Criminal Courthouse)
  • Floating Bailiff (Civil Courthouse)
