TCSO Arrests Suspect on Charge of Criminal Solicitation to Commit Capital Murder

In the early morning hours of Monday, October 23, 2017, Travis County Sheriff’s Office Detectives arrested KEITH JAMES COTE, and charged him with Criminal Solicitation (To Commit Capital Murder) (1st Degree Felony).

Cote is accused of soliciting an acquaintance to kill his ex-girlfriend, offering $10,000 for the murder and an additional $15,000 “to watch him put a bullet in her head.”

The acquaintance and his wife notified a Travis County Sheriff’s Office Detective of the solicitation. With the cooperation of the couple and the assistance of the FBI, the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, the DPS Aviation Unit and the Travis County District Attorney’s Office, our detective was able to execute surveilled meetings with the suspect and gather the necessary evidence to generate probable cause for an arrest warrant.
Cote is currently being held in the Travis County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond.
