TCSO Working the Agency’s 5th Homicide of 2022
At approximately 10:30 am on March 4, 2022, TCSO responded to the 11800 block of Garden Gate after a 911 caller reported someone shooting in front of his house. Deputies arrived on scene within a few minutes and discovered four Hispanic males, two of whom had sustained a gunshot wound to the head.
Both victims were transported to local hospitals and detectives went to work, investigating the incident. That same day, TCSO arrested Roy Garcia, 54 of Austin and charged him with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Handgun (2nd Degree Felony) for shooting the two men.
Freddie Portillo, 33 of Austin, one of the victims shot in the head, succumbed to his wound and an autopsy was performed March 11, 2022.
TCSO will be working with the DA’s Office to seek a Murder charge.
