Body Recovered from Lake Travis

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 29, 2026

Body Recovered from Lake Travis

At 6:23 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, TCSO Lake Patrol Deputies responded to a 911 caller’s report that a man had gone underwater and not resurfaced in the main channel of Lake Travis, near Bob Wentz Park.

Rescue efforts were unsuccessful, and at approximately 7:20 pm, the rescue mission shifted to a recovery mission. TCSO Lake Patrol was assisted by Texas Game Wardens (TPW), Lower Colorado River Authority and Travis County Parks Staff in search efforts and support for the family of the missing swimmer.

In the afternoon hours of June 27, the body was located using TCSO’s remotely operated underwater camera system, and the decedent was recovered by TPW divers.

Out of respect for the family involved, and because there is currently no indication this is a criminal incident, TCSO will not disclose the identity of the decedent via press release.

TCSO reminds patrons of Lake Travis that the best way to ensure your safety on the lake, or any other body of water, is to wear a life jacket.
