TCSO Working Homicide in Austin’s Colony

At 3:29 am on June 27, 2026, TCSO received a 911 call from a person reporting  hearing shots fired and screaming at a nearby home in the 15100 block of Retha Pass. 

When deputies arrived on scene, they saw a male in his 40s with obvious serious injuries due to gunshot wounds. The shooter, Michael Scott Crawford, 47, of Austin,  remained on scene and was detained by deputies at 3:36 am.

Crawford was arrested, and is charged with Murder.

The parties involved in the incident are known to each other and it is an isolated  incident. There is no danger to the public. The identity of the decedent will not be released until positive identification has been made by the Travis County Medical  Examiner’s Office and next of kin has been notified.
