TCSO Inmate Dies at Local Hospital

On April 24, 2026, at 8:41 p.m., inmate Miguel Angel Gonzales, 46, was transported from the Travis County Correctional Complex to a local hospital when medical staff determined he exhibited symptoms that required emergency room care. Gonzales was pronounced deceased at 4:17 a.m. on April 26 at the hospital.

Gonzales was booked into custody on March 19, 2026, charged with DWI.

An investigation by TCSO’s Internal Affairs Unit, Criminal Investigations Division and the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office is underway, as is customary with any death in custody. The autopsy was conducted on April 27, 2026, and the final report is pending.
