UPDATE: Bodies Recovered/Missing Persons in Flood Zone

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office has been working alongside other agencies in rescue, search and recovery missions since the early morning hours of July 5, 2025, when flash floods devastated areas of west Travis County.

TCSO Detectives are working with the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office to painstakingly investigate and document each case of a decedent recovered in the flood zone.

The following decedents, all from Leander, TX, unless otherwise specified, have been recovered:
• Dan Dailey, 67
• Viginia Watts Dailey, 66
• Betty Massey West, 84
• August Panning, 50
• 17 year-old female from Marble Falls, TX
• Alissa Nicole Martin, 54
• George Douglas West, 54

This afternoon, the body of a man was located under the Big Sandy bridge as debris removal was being conducted. This brings the number of decedents who are pending positive identification and/or notification of next of kin to three.

TCSO has received numerous reports that a person who was reported missing is alive and has been seen by several witnesses. TCSO Detectives are actively working to make contact with the person and verify their identity. These developments might result in the removal of that name from the missing list.

As of today:
• A total of ten bodies have been recovered.
   - Seven of them have been positively identified.
   - Three of them are pending positive identification and/or notification of next of kin.
• One person is on the missing list but may be removed if TCSO can substantiate reported sightings of the individual.
