FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 11, 2024
Body Recovered from Lake Travis
At 4:08 p.m. on June 8, 2024, TCSO Lake Patrol Deputies and other agencies responded to a 911 report from a group of people boating in Devil’s Cove that a male in his 20s hadn’t been seen in 15 to 20 minutes. Witnesses stated the man was not wearing a life jacket and had been holding on to a floatation device near their pontoon boat as they were anchored alongside other boats.
TCSO Lake Patrol, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Lake Travis Fire Rescue and STAR Flight searched the area. The mission transitioned to recovery later that evening and TCSO took over as lead agency, continuing searches until nightfall. TCSO Lake Patrol Deputies resumed shoreline, surface, ROV and sonar searches on June 9 and 10, along with continued assistance from Texas Parks and Wildlife. On June 11 at 1:51 p.m., the body of a male was found and recovered in 54 feet of water.
Out of respect for the family involved, and because this is not a criminal incident, TCSO will not disclose the identity of the decedent via press release.
TCSO reminds patrons of Lake Travis that the best way to ensure your safety on the lake, or any other body of water, is to wear a life jacket. In the event of an emergency on the water, follow these steps:
