Body of Missing Man Recovered from Lake Travis

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 14, 2023

Body of Missing Man Recovered from Lake Travis

At 7:28 p.m. on June 11, 2023, TCSO Lake Patrol Deputies and other agencies responded to a 911 report that a male in his 20s had gone underwater and never resurfaced. The man was reportedly last seen near Mansfield Dam Park attempting to swim across a nearby cove.

Rescue efforts switched to recovery at 7:57 p.m. Sunday. The search resumed Monday morning at daylight, with Texas Parks and Wildlife assisting with sonar. A body was located before 8:30 a.m. and the recovery was completed around 12 p.m. The body of a male matching the swimmer’s description was found at a depth of approximately 30 feet. He was not wearing a life jacket. Out of respect for the family involved, and because this is not a criminal incident, TCSO will not disclose the identity of the decedent via press release.

TCSO reminds patrons of Lake Travis that the best way to ensure your safety on the lake, or any other body of water, is to wear a life jacket. In the event of an emergency on the water, follow these steps:
