TCSO Investigating Sixth Murder Case of the Year

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 23, 2023

TCSO Investigating Sixth Murder Case of the Year

At approximately 11:56 p.m. on Oct. 22, a TCSO patrol deputy was flagged down by a man parked on the roadway in the 1700 block Wells Branch Parkway. The deputy was directed to a victim with multiple gunshot wounds in the backseat of a 2023 red Nissan Sentra 4-door with front-end damage. The 29-year-old male was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The 32-year-old man who flagged deputies down was detained and remains in TCSO custody as the investigation continues. The involved parties were known to one another.

Evidence collected thus far suggests the shooting occurred at a different location and that the Sentra had been involved in a recent collision. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the TCSO Tip Line at 512-854-1444 or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477.

An autopsy is scheduled for October 24. TCSO will provide the identity of the victim once positive identification (via Medical Examiner’s Office) and notification of next of kin have been obtained.
