Body of Missing Man Recovered from Lake Travis
At 9:06 pm on June 7, 2023, TCSO Lake Patrol Deputies and other agencies responded to a 911 report that a male in his 30s had gone underwater and never resurfaced. The man was a passenger on a party barge that was anchored near Starnes Island.
TCSO Lake Patrol, Jonestown PD and Jonestown Fire searched the area. The mission transitioned to a recovery at approximately 10:00 pm and TCSO continued searching using sonar.
TCSO Lake Patrol Deputies started shoreline and surface searches at sunrise June 8, 2023. The body was found in 32 feet of water and recovered at 10:30 am. He was not wearing a life jacket. Out of respect for the family involved, and because this is not a criminal incident, TCSO will not disclose the identity of the decedent via press release.
TCSO reminds patrons of Lake Travis that the best way to ensure your safety on the lake, or any other body of water, is to wear a life jacket. In the event of an emergency on the water, follow these steps:
