Corrections Officer Testing

Corrections Officer candidates should be prepared for the following: 
Reading Comprehension and Vocabulary Test
   This entry-level test is required by all applicants for all positions and is designed to test the applicant’s general reading and writing abilities. Individuals that have a Bachelor’s degree or higher are exempt and will not have to take this test. There is no study guide for this test. This is not required for current employees and individuals that have previously passed this test. 
Job Specific Test - Corrections Officer
Applicants for Corrections Officer must complete the following course within 3 minutes & 30 seconds:
* 200-yard Run
* Jump over 6 Hurdles ranging from 6” to 4’ (You may use your hands on the last 2 hurdles).
* Walk across a balance beam
* Drag a 150-lb dummy
* Run through a serpentine wall
* Run three flights of stairs
* Run through a sandpit
* Run through a series of heavy bags
* Crawl under a 3’ obstacle
* Climb over a 4’ chain link fence
NOTE: Applicants will get three attempts at each obstacle. Failure to clear the obstacle within three attempts will disqualify the applicant from the job specific testing. If it appears that an applicant is injured, they will be stopped and not allowed to continue.

Law Enforcement

Testing for Law Enforcement is held twice a year.

* Climb through a window
* Climb over a 6' wooden fence
* Climb over a chain link fence
