Area: The East Command is responsible for law enforcement in the Eastern half of the county. The dividing line generally is Interstate Highway 35.

Profile: This area of the county is a contrast between open farm land and densely populated urban type communities. The area includes the major eastbound thoroughfares of Highway 71 East and US 290 East both direct routes to Houston.

Population: The population of the unincorporated areas of this part of the county is approximately 72,161 (2000 Census). The racial breakdown includes 53% white, 12% Black, and 31% Hispanic.

Cities: Incorporated cities within this jurisdiction include, Pflugerville, Manor and Mustang Ridge.

Specialized Units that operate out of the East Command include:

Auto Theft Unit - This is a 14 county Auto Theft Task force that targets auto theft in the Central Texas area.

Livestock Estray - These officers handle loose livestock and animal cruelty cases in the county.

Inaugurated in 1999, our new East Command Center was named after long-time Chief Deputy James E. Collier. It is in the far eastern portion of Travis County off of FM 969.
