The 35th Class of the Travis County Sheriff’s Citizens’ Academy is accepting applications now. The FREE 13 week class meets on Tuesday nights, from 6:45pm to 10pm, starting on February 16, 2016.

As a student you will have the chance to meet Sheriff’s Office Employees and see the Sheriff’s Office in action. You will also see how your tax dollars are spent as well as see how deputies and corrections officers are hired and trained. As a bonus, students will be able to ride with a deputy during a patrol shift and tour the Travis County Jail system.

It is important to note that the Sheriff’s Citizens’ Academy does not certify you as a deputy but it does make you a better informed citizen and shows you what your Sheriff’s Office is doing and how we interact with the community.

Go to the Citizens Academy Alumni Association web site at or email Senior Deputy Vincente Galloway at [email protected] for your application and send it in today. You can also. The class is open to anyone who is 21 or over, and lives or works in Travis County.

If you have questions about the program, qualifications or don’t have access to a computer and need an application, call Senior Deputy Galloway at 512-854-4989.
