On November 21, 2012, at about 6am, a wrecker was stolen from the 2900 Block of West Howard Lane. A Motorcycle Unit with the Travis County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit spotted the stolen wrecker and pursued it from the area of McNeil and Parmer until it stopped in a small parking area in the 12400 Block of Research Blvd. The deputy approached the vehicle when the suspect put it in reverse and started to back into the Deputy. The deputy shot at and struck the stolen wrecker and the suspect then drove over a curb and through a privacy fence into another parking area. He then drove into another fence and a large tree coming to a stop. The suspect then fled on foot.

A search of the area ensued with STARFlight, Austin Police Department, Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff’s Office K9. The suspect was taken into custody by Sheriff’s Deputies at about 7:45am and was identified as, Jeramie Russell Feyock, Date of Birth 1-3-1977 of Austin. He was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor vehicle, State Jail Felony, and Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle, State Jail 3rd Degree Felony.

Neither the Deputy nor the suspect was injured in the chase. The only damages were to the wrecker and the fences it ran through.

Major Crimes Detectives and Internal Affairs Unit Detectives were called to the scene to investigate the Deputy involved shooting. The Deputy will be placed on administrative duties until the investigation is complete, which is standard in these cases.
