At about 12:30am, on November 15, 2012, a fire was reported in the 17100 Block of Indian Chief Drive (17117 Indian Chief Drive). Units from the North Lake Travis Fire and Rescue, STARFlight, Austin/Travis County EMS and The Travis County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to make sure everyone was out of the residence and to fight the fire.

One of the residents collapsed while units were fighting the fire and life saving measures were started. The man, identified as, James Cipolla, Date of Birth 5-31-1944, could not be revived and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

He was taken to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office for an examination. The final autopsy report is not expected to be completed for several weeks pending toxicology results; however, detectives report that there is no evidence that Mr. Cipolla had any injuries from the fire that would have caused his death.

The Travis County Fire Marshal’s Office is continuing their investigation into the cause of the fire. They report that the cause is undetermined at this time.
