Domestic Violence Awareness Campaign

DO SOMETHING title

Speak up. Speak Out. Support Victims.

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This October and beyond, the Travis County Sheriff's Office is committed to raising awareness about domestic violence and offering resources and support for victims and their loved ones.

Domestic abuse/violence is the willful intimidation, physical assault, battery, sexual assault, and/or other abusive behavior as part of a systematic pattern of power and control perpetrated by one intimate partner against another.

Abuse is physical, sexual, emotional, economic or psychological actions or threats of actions that influence another person to include behaviors that frighten, intimidate, terrorize, manipulate, hurt, humiliate, blame, injure, or wound someone.

Domestic abuse does not discriminate - it can happen to anyone of any race, age, sexual orientation, religion, gender, socioeconomic backgrounds or education level. It can occur within a range of relationships to include those whom are married, living together or dating.

We invite you to watch a local KVUE news series on domestic violence, featuring our personnel who work to get justice for survivors. The series is look at the process from the 911 call to the courtoom.
