What do I need to bring?

You must have a current driver’s license, state-issued ID, military ID or passport. Other identifying information may be requested.

What is the cost?

There is a $15.00 fee which can be paid by exact cash or check/money order made payable to: Travis County Sheriff’s Office.

How do I request an arrest/incarceration record for someone else?

If you are requesting arrest/incarceration records information on another individual, you must provide us with a notarized letter signed by the individual or power of attorney, along with a copy of their ID. The letter must state that the individual authorizes us to release the information to you. The letter must contain the signature of the person and the signature must be notarized.

What do we not provide?

The Sheriff’s Office DOES NOT PROVIDE CRIMINAL HISTORIES OR CLEARANCE LETTERS. For complete and accurate criminal history information, refer to the Texas Department of Public Safety and/or the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Crime Statistics

Crime statistics are available for dates starting in 1999. To submit a request, provide exact addresses, block numbers, areas, and/or street names along with exact time periods to either our East or West Commands. To find out your service area, you can refer to our interactive district map. There is not a cost associated with this request.

What is the cost?

The price for a report is .10 cents per page which can be paid by exact cash or check/money order made payable to: Travis County Sheriff’s Office.

What will the report include?

We will only release the portion of the report that is public information. Public information only contains the type of offense, date/time of offense, name of officer who responded and any items reported stolen or damaged. The public record will not contain any portion of the officer’s narrative.

How do I request an incident reports for my insurance company?

If your insurance company requests a copy of a report, the "Public Record" contains the information needed. An Open Records Request will provide you with the detailed report, which contains the officer’s narrative.

Your written request should include your name, address, and a detailed description of the records you are requesting. When you submit your written Open Records Request ask for the full and complete report or the portion that the Sheriff's Office is allowed to release.

Open Records Request

The Texas Public Information Act guarantees the public access to information maintained by a governmental entity. It is the policy of this Office to provide the greatest access possible to public information. Your request for information is made under the Texas Public Information Act. Reports for Accidents Under 10 Days Old

Reports under 10 days of the date of the accident may not yet be available for purchase. To inquire on the status of your report, please call Central Records at (512) 854-9749. Reports can take two to 10 days to become available. Reports under 10 days of the date of the accident may not yet be available for purchase.

Blue Form

This form is to be used when the driver of a motor vehicle is involved in a crash not investigated by a law enforcement officer that results in injury to or death of any person, or damage to the property of any one person, including the driver, to the apparent extent of at least one thousand dollars ($1,000).

Who Should Complete a Driver's Crash Report (form CR-2)? The Driver's Crash Report is completed and signed by the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash. If the driver is unable to complete the report, another person may complete the report on behalf of the driver, with an explanation as to why the driver was unable to complete the form.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Effective September 1, 2017, per the 85th Texas Legislature Senate Bill 312, Driver's Crash Reports (form CR-2) are no longer retained by the Texas Department of Transportation.The drivers involved in a crash not investigated by a Peace Officer should retain this form for their records.If you have any questions about your Blue Form, please contact TxDot at (844) 274-7457. 

 

Warrants

Warrant Information

Travis County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Information can be obtained by accessing Warrants on Web (WOW) or by calling our office at (512) 854-9751. When calling, please follow the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) automated attendant and use either the phone key pad or speak to the IVR attendant.

Our search system only applies to the Travis County Sheriff's Office; if you are searching for an arrest warrant from another Texas law enforcement agency, you will need to contact that agency directly.

Child Support Warrants

Class C Warrants

This office does not maintain Class C Warrants of Arrest or information for Traffic Citations, etc. Class C Warrants are issued by the Municipal Court or the Justice of the Peace Precinct, in the jurisdiction where the Class C Offense occurred or the traffic citation was issued. See the back of the Traffic Citation to locate the Municipal Court or the Justice of the Peace Precinct for your court appearance. Failure to appear in court, within the specified date indicated on the citation, will result in a warrant for your arrest.

If you received a Traffic Citation issued by the Austin Police Department (APD), please contact City of Austin Municipal Court at (512) 974-4800 or to search for a warrant of arrest, visit their warrant website. On APD's warrant website you can also search for Felony and Misdemeanor Class A or B warrants issued by the Austin Municipal Court, on behalf of APD.

There are five Constable's Offices in Travis County. If you received a Traffic Citation by the Travis County Sheriff’s Office or the Texas Department of Public Safety and failed to appear in court on the date indicated on the citation, or if you want to check on a Class C Warrant, contact the appropriate Travis County Constable's Office:
