Thank you for your interest in writing Surety Bonds in Travis County.
In order to have the privilege of issuing surety bonds in Travis County, Sheriff Office policy requires that each attorney/law firm to submit a notarized Personal Financial Statement of Attorney Surety. In addition, initial applicants are required to submit a copy of their driver’s license and a copy of their Texas State Bar card.
Upon completion and submission of these documents, each attorney/law firm is required to resubmit (annually) an updated Personal Financial Statement of Attorney Surety by June 15th. Please complete the form, and return it to our office with any one of the following supporting documents:
- A copy of your latest tax return,
- An audited financial statement, or
- A letter from your bank confirming your net worth.
If the Sheriff’s Office receives credible information that your financial situation differs from the Personal Financial Statement of Attorney Surety on file, we reserve the right to suspend your privilege of writing surety bonds in Travis County. If this occurs, you will be required to provide additional information to verify your net worth, excluding any assets exempt by law from forced sale. Assets exempt by law from forced sale include your homestead and such should not be included as assets in your financial statements.
Please provide us a notarized list of any employees that you authorize to write bonds on your behalf, as well as a copy of their signature. It will be your responsibility to keep us informed of any changes to this list.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office.
