This Fourth of July weekend we expect an increase in boat traffic on Lake Travis. Prior to launching your boat, make sure you and your passengers know where safety equipment is located. In an emergency, you will have little time to look for safety equipment.
There must be a personal floatation device for each person on your boat. Each boat is rated for a certain number of people. Do not overload your boat.
While a boat is moving, passengers should always sit in the seats. Do not sit on the swim platform, engine hatch or the front of the boat while in motion. When the motor is running, always keep passengers away from the back of the boat to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, injury or death from contact with the propeller.
Carbon Monoxide is a serious and deadly threat while boating.
