Sheriff’s Detectives Investigating Traffic Fatality - Update
On March 2, 2014, at 3:42am, a Sheriff’s Office Patrol Sergeant observed a silver sports car pass
him in the 3200 Block of East Parmer Lane. The Sergeant estimated the sports car was going in
excess of 100 miles per hour. He saw the vehicle turn left onto Cameron Road running a red light
and almost hitting another vehicle. At that point the Sergeant activated his emergency lights and
siren and tried to catch up to the vehicle. As he approached 115 miles per hour he noticed that he
was not catching up to the car. He continued to drive North on Cameron Road when he found the
vehicle wrecked in a field in the 13100 Block of Cameron Road.
It appears that the driver of the vehicle, a Silver Infiniti, had lost control and collided with a
wooden utility pole, knocking it down, and then continued into field. As the Sergeant came to a
stop he saw the driver exiting the vehicle. As he made contact with the driver, identified as,
Ruben Munoz, Date of Birth 4-15-1987,
he noticed that there was a female passenger in the car. She was pronounced deceased at the
scene and then taken to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office where she was identified
Micole Tiffany Medina, Date of Birth 11-20-1985.
Mr. Munoz was arrested and charged him with Manslaughter, Felony 2, which is punishable by 2
to 20 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and a fine not to exceed $10,000.00.
