FAQs
What is on the test? First, applicants take a Reading Comprehension and Vocabulary (RCV) test. The exam is 50
questions and lasts half an hour. Applicants who pass this test will go on to take the Physical Readiness Test (PRT), which
is a 2000 meter row for time on a Concept 2 rower. For more information on the row test, and to watch demo videos,
please click here.

How long will the testing process take? Plan to be at the testing site for a minimum of 4 hours. If you would like to take a
tour of the jail after passing both the RCV and PRT, you should plan for a minimum of 5 hours total.

I don’t live in Austin, can I still attend testing? Yes. If you are more than a 3 hour drive outside of Travis County, we will
also strive to conduct your Background Interview while you are with us at testing to minimize your travel time and
expense. Please contact a Recruiter for more information.

If you have any further questions regarding the testing or hiring process, please contact a Recruiter for more information.
Thank you.
