On Monday, February 6, 2017, School Resource Officers were notified that a potential bomb threat was written on a bathroom wall at Westlake High School. TCSO immediately began an investigation to determine who wrote the words and implemented safety protocols to ensure the security of students and faculty.

Security measures included a search of the campus with canine units, increased patrols around the school and additional adult presence throughout the building.

The TCSO investigation lead officers to a suspect who is not a Westlake High School student. The suspect is a male in his early twenties who attended a school event Saturday, February 4, 2017. Investigators do not have enough physical evidence to make an arrest at this time, but are confident that not only was the message an empty threat, there is no future threat of harm to students.

TCSO will maintain an increased presence at school activities for the next 24 hours to offer reassurance to parents and students as they settle back into their normal routines.
