September 11, 2015 Prescribed Burns at Reimers Ranch Park Travis County Parks plans to conduct multiple prescribed burns at Reimers Ranch Park between September 14‐16, 2015. The prescribed burns are part of the ongoing management of the Park and are being implemented to improve grassland health, remove invasive shrubs, and reduce fuel loads. The prescribed burns have been planned for months and are the first of six prescribed burns that are planned for the Park through the early winter. Travis County Parks is conducting the prescribed burns in cooperation with multiple partners including Lake Travis Fire Rescue, Pflugerville Fire Department, and the Texas A&M Forest Service. The final determination of which projects will be implemented will be determined on burn day based on the weather conditions and other factors. A total of two prescribed burns are expected to be implemented and they are expected to be implemented on Monday and Tuesday. They will begin between 11:00 and 1:00 each day and are expected to be completed between 3:00 and 5:00 each day. The prescribed burns are expected to be conducted with southerly winds, which will carry the smoke to the north, over the Park and the communities to the north. The Park will remain open but some areas, notably the Equestrian Parking Area, Climbers Canyon, and the Mountain Biking Trails may be closed due to the smoke. Other trails and areas within the Park may be closed and there may be temporary road closures along the main park road. Due to the relatively small size of the projects, the duration of the projects, and the distance between the prescribed burns and the adjacent communities, very little smoke should be visible in those communities and limited impacts are expected. Reimers Ranch Park is located at: 23610 Hamilton Pool Road, Dripping Springs, 78620. Media note: Due to the remote nature of the prescribed burns no media access will be available. ###
