This page is designed to show the activities required to register an attorney’s telephone number to the Sheriff’s Office “Private Do Not Record” List as a “Private” or “Free and Private” telephone number for confidential, privileged communications between attorneys and inmates. Please note that ALL phone numbers that are NOT REGISTERED to the Sheriff’s Office “Private Do Not Record” List ARE SUBJECT TO RECORDING as indicated in the message prompt provided by Securus on the Sheriff’s Office phone system.

  • STEP 1: Register for a Travis County account for the Defense Attorney Phone Registration Application.
    • Under the drop down box for “Application” select “Defense Attorney Phone Registration”
    • Enter your email address
    • Click Register
    • Complete all steps required for registration of attorney telephone number[s] to the Sheriff’s Office “Private Do Not Record” List
    • When your application is complete you will receive an email stating, “Your account request has been submitted”. This means that your account is being reviewed by Sheriff’s Office personnel. Until your account has been verified and created, the phone number[s] you submitted in the application are NOT YET READY for “Private” or “Free and Private” communications and calls placed to the number[s] will still be subject to recording.
  • STEP 2: After your account has been verified and created, you will receive a second email stating, “Your account has been created. The registered phone number[s] have been added to the SHERIFF’S OFFICE “Private Do Not Record” List and are ready for use”.
  • STEP 3: Once you receive an email stating, “Your account request has been approved,” the Sheriff’s Office has completed the registration of your phone numbers from the application and your submitted phone number[s] are registered to the Sheriff’s Office “Private Do Not Record” List, and may be used for “Private” or “Free and Private” communications.
  • Attorney phone numbers registered to the Sheriff’s Office “Private Do Not Record” List ARE NOT recorded. Accordingly, Call Participants in unrecorded calls to Registered Attorney Phone Numbers WILL NOT receive a recorded prompt advising the call is being recorded.
