The Sheriff’s Association of Texas will be honoring those Sheriffs, Deputies and Corrections Officers/Jailers who have given their lives for the protection of others. The ceremony is scheduled for 10:00am on Friday, November 20, 2015 at the Sheriffs' Association of Texas Memorial and Training Center Headquarters, 1601 South IH 35, located in Austin.
The Lost Lawman Memorial was first dedicated. In 1993, the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas began research efforts to identify, confirm and compile the names of all Sheriffs, Chief Deputies, Jailers and Deputies who have died in the line of duty throughout Texas’ history. The research efforts resulted in 219 names listed in the initial dedication of the Memorial on May 15, 1994. Since that memorial, we have had 12 ceremonies and added 280 names. This year’s ceremony will add 9 names to the memorial for a grand total of 508 names.
All are welcome to attend and there will be a reception immediately following the ceremony inside the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas Memorial and Training Center. (The ceremony will take place rain or shine.)
