Sheriff’s Office Hosts Fifth Annual Event For Wounded Warriors
On October 17, 2014, at 11am, the Travis County Sheriff’s Office and Skydive San Marcos will host the Leap of the Heroes V, at Skydive San Marcos. The goal of the event is to honor and empower service men and women injured in the Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts.
At 9:30am, the warriors will be escorted from San Marcos Police Department to Irene K. Mendez Elementary School, 1805 Peter Garza Drive. At 10am there will be a presentation involving the children of the school. The warriors will then be escorted to Skydive San Marcos, at the Fentress Airpark, on Highway 80, in Fentress, Texas.
The tandem skydives will start at 11:30am and are scheduled to last until 4pm. There will also be a lunch provided to the warriors and sponsors at the airpark while the skydives are getting underway. Anyone wishing to donate is asked to send a check, payable to the “Wounded Warrior Project”, to The Travis County Sheriff’s Office, P.O. Box 1748, Austin, Texas 78767, Attn: Major Mark Sawa. Donations are tax exempt.
