Law Enforcement Bureau

The Law Enforcement Bureau is made up of three area commands: Central, East, and West. With a few small variances, we utilize the IH-35 corridor as a dividing line to determine east and west.

We embrace the philosophy of Community Policing. With this strategy, our deputies patrol the same districts during their tour of duty in an effort to become familiar with specific areas of the community we serve. This style of policing allows our deputies and citizens to form a partnership that not only addresses crime but also has a positive impact on the quality of life issues.

Our fleet is primarily made up of the patrol vehicles you see on the streets and in neighborhoods. Beyond patrol, we utilize a wide variety of vehicles to perform critical job functions to include unmarked vehicles for detectives and special assignments as well as two armored vehicles for tactical response and rescue. Our Lake Patrol fleet includes four boats, 30 feet in length with twin outboard engines; one of which serves as a floating command post for dive operations. Our motorcycle fleet is made up of Harley Davidson and BMW motorcycles. We use a variety of trailers to include a 32-foot Incident Command Trailer, equipped with technology designed to run a critical incident from a remote location as well as drone technology.
