Law Enforcement

The Law Enforcement Bureau is responsible for public safety and law enforcement in the unincorporated areas of Travis County. The primary focus of these units involves the patrol function in those areas, but there are many specialized units that are also a part of their jobs.

The county is divided into three command areas, East Command, West Command and Central Command. The dividing line is basically Interstate 35 with Central Command handling some of the shared functions.

VIctim Services Division - Started in 1984 as a part of the Law Enforcement Bureau. Its conception was prior to state mandates requiring law enforcement liaisons to crime victims. As a result of the Sheriff's Office dedication to crime victims in Travis County, the Division has continued to expand. However, its primary mission remains the same - to provide services to crime victims in Travis County.

Auto Theft Task Force (SCATT) - Headquartered with the Travis County Sheriff’s Office, SCATT is a 17 county Auto Theft Task force funded by the Auto Theft Prevention Authority that helps decrease the number of auto thefts throughout the region.
