How do I send an inmate money?

Our newest option for family and friends to send money to an inmate in the Travis County Jail or the Travis County Correctional Complex is via Western Union.

With Western Union, it’s easy for you to send money to loved ones in Travis County! We offer three convenient payment methods:

Internet: Click here to send a credit* or debit card payment
■ Click "Bill Pay and Money Orders"
■ Select the appropriate state you are sending money from
■ Choose "Correctional Facility"
■ From the pull-down box, select "Travis County Ofc", click on either "I am a new customer" or "I am a returning customer"
■ Click continue. You will then have to fill out the personal information page and complete the process.
■ At the end of the transaction, it will assess a Western Union transaction fee, depending on the amount of money being sent.
■ Fees as low as $3.95 *ALL transaction fees go to Western Union for providing these services; The Sheriff's Office does not make money off these services. Click here for a complete fee schedule.

■ Just follow the instructions. At one point, you will be cautioned that you are going to be charged $16.00 - You will NOT be charged. Just keep going through the process until you are connected with a live operator, then give them all the correct information. At the end, the operator will quote the correct fee.

Walk-in: Visit one of more than 45,000 participating Western Union® Agent locations nationwide to send a cash payment.

■ Complete the blue Western Union Quick Collect® form and include the following information:
■ Pay to: Travis County Sheriff Ofc
■ Code city, State: TCSOITF, TX
■ Sender’s account #: 7-digit booking # and inmate last name (examples: 0812345smith or 0811223Gonzalesortiz - no hyphens, spaces, etc.)
■ Attention: First and last name of inmate

Deposits may also be made by money order, in person or by mail: pay to the order of “Inmate Trust Fund.” You must include the name and date of birth of the inmate on the money order to ensure the proper account is credited. The money order must be placed in an envelope alone and dropped off at TCCC (map) between 9am and 3pm, Monday through Friday, closed weekends and county holidays; or mailed to:

All money orders received will be receipted with a copy forwarded only to the inmate.
