This office is located at the Sheriff's Office main offices in downtown Austin. They control several of our very specialized units.

Crisis Intervention Team - This unit handles all the crisis calls involving mental health issues. The goal is to provide consistent care and services for consumers who are in a mental crisis. We also try to divert the mental health consumer from the Criminal Justice System when appropriate. We work cooperatively with other agencies and entities to connect mental health consumers to resources available in the community and mental health system. Fugitive Warrants / SWAT - This unit targets fugitives who have outstanding warrants in the county. They also serve as the TCSO SWAT team and are highly trained in specialized tactics and are used as needed in that function.

Major Crimes Unit - This unit handles the investigation of all major crimes against persons in the county as well as specialized investigation.

Intelligence / Crime Analysis - This unit handles all criminal intelligence for the department, as well as providing statistical analysis of crime patterns.

Narcotics - Various officers serve with local task forces that target the illegal manufacture, transportation, sales and possession of narcotics in our area. They typically work closely with area federal, state and local law enforcement.

Family Violence Unit - Grant funded by the State of Texas this unit handles domestic violence investigations. The unit also performs community education and training of officers in preventative measures to reduce domestic violence in our area.  

The TCSO Family Violence unit is a partner of the Family Violence Protection Team (FVPT).  FVPT is a collaborative, community response to family violence that works toward holding batterers accountable and provides support to victims through investigative, legal and social services.  For more information call,
